First Video in Keepsake Books Video Series

The first two videos of the series are now up on Youtube. The first one is the simplest accordion you can make with a theme of We Are All In This Together. The second is a fan book of Words to Inspire and Sustain.
You can view them here.

There are 8 projects in the series. New ones will be uploaded to Youtube on Tuesday and Friday afternoons for the next three weeks. If you subscribe to my channel, you'll be notified when they are posted.

Trailer for a New Video Series

I have a new video series in the works. It's called Keepsake Books To Celebrate and Commemorate. It is a response to the times we are in. I really enjoyed making the samples and hope you will enjoy making the books. Watch the trailer to see what's coming.

Quote from Jean-Luc Picard

We really enjoyed watching the CBS All Access Star Trek series "Picard." Star Trek Next Generation had been a part of lives for many years and it was great to spend time again with Patrick Stewart and his new companions, as well as meet up with some old ones as well. I wrote this with the wider end (5mm) of a Zig Memory System calligraphy marker that was running out of ink which gave these lovely textures to the letters.

New Video Series Coming: Keepsake Books

I have a logo and 2 sample books. That's enough to announce that I will be making a new series of bookmaking videos–Keepsake Books To Celebrate and Commemorate. Simple construction, recycled materials, easy bookmaking for all ages. Made in response to these times but based on my philosophy of bookmaking from the beginning.

I wrote this in 1989: "She feels that we are surrendering an important part of ourselves when we are only consumers of art and entertainment. She feels strongly that the books she makes as gifts and remembrances for family and friends are as important as those she makes as a professional artist."

It's Mother's day and I feel like we all need some mothering right about now. I am sharing this series I did in 1989 when my first child was four and my second was two years away. I was in the midst of my engagement with the photocopier as an art tool. The images are collaged with natural materials that I copied and recopied until the grays of the image broke down into being either black or white.
These are featured in my calligraphy memoir,  Calligraphy: How I Fell In, Out, and In Love Again.

It is now available in the bookstore on my website. $25. shipping included.

May Day 2020

I miss
Maypoles and Morris bells,
singing and dancing.
I cherish
friends and friendships,
connections that enliven my spirit
and bring me joy.

Happy May Day to All!
