First Day of Celtic Spring
Today is the first day of spring in the Celtic calendar. It is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox. If you think about the length of the days and the light rather than the temperature (not so much of an issue this year as it has been so mild), I find that it makes sense.

Solstice Greetings
It is the time of the winter solstice, a vulnerable point in the year, a time of extremes—the shortest day, the longest night. I feel a weight, a heaviness along with the festivity. The season itself asks me to make it a vulnerable point in my year, to open my heart, and in doing so, feel the darkness as well as the light, sorrow as well as joy. The significance seems to be not that it is a celebration of light but that it is a celebration of light in the darkness. I open my heart to the light in the darkness.

Carrie Chapman Catt
This sounds so fresh to me but it was written in 1921 by one of the pivotal figures in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Download the entire Suffragists Speak Free Poster Series (2 sizes: 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17) here: https://www.susangaylord.com/free-posters.html

Let us gather
the golden light of autumn's bounty
and share its glory
as the nights lengthen
in the sun's journey toward the shortest day.
