"We all need art and music like we need blood and oxygen."
I have been a big fan of Rosanne Cash since the release of Black Cadillac, the album she made after the deaths of her stepmother, father, and mother. The book has all the sensitivity, acceptance of the complexity of life, and earned wisdom and grace of the album. I was so inspired by her ongoing quest to make work that is truly her own.
You can read an excerpt from Chapter One and listen to some of her songs at her website.
And here she is performing with Kris Kristofferson and Elvis Costello a song they wrote together on Elvis Costello's television show Spectacle.
