at February's close

The photo was taken on front railing. The pale gold circles on the left are the glow of the white Christmas lights that are still on our transplanted laurel. The lights have been on since the holiday season partly because I have been too lazy to make the short trudge through the snow and partly because there have been so many cold and icy nights that I felt passersby, whether on foot or in a car, needed the encouragement of the sparkling lights. I thought about turning them off when I looked out into the bright sun of yesterday morning but today I am glad to see them through the rain and sleet.
