Nuclear reflections

The current situation in Japan brought to mind this calligraphic piece I did many years ago for an art auction for C-10, an organization against the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in nearby Seabrook, NH.

A gentle rain
is falling in the yard
I stand and watch
with my baby
in my arms

I think of the soft warm rain
healing and renewing
I think of rain dances
and poets celebrating rain

Geoffrey Chaucer
Whan that Aprille with its shoures soote

The Irish Blessing
May the rain fall soft upon your fields

Langston Hughes
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

And then
I think of Chernobyl

A gentle rain
is falling in the yard
I stand and watch
with my baby
in my arms
