Peace Tree Bookmaking Project

A project for the season—a snow covered evergreen made from recycled paper with a peace garland. It can close like a book and open to display as a tree.

You'll need: 2 pieces of US Letter/A4 goos (good on one side) paper, scissors, glue stick, markers.

MAKE 2 HOT DOG BOOKLETS:



Written directions

GLUE PAGES TOGETHER:
1. Open the book.

2. Cover with glue.

3. Reassemble book. You need to be careful to get the pages glued together properly. Your glued pages should form an X when viewed from above.

4. Flatten to make a book again.

CUT TREE SHAPE:
Place the book so that the fold (spine) is on the left and cut the right side in to the shape of the tree. You can do it freehand or use this pattern.

GLUE BOOKLETS TOGETHER:
You can also glue them first and cut through ll the layers but it will be more difficult to cut. You can also make a less full tree with just one sheet of paper. If you don't have much time or are working with young children, this will be easier as there are less pages to fill.

DECORATE YOUR TREE WITH A PEACE GARLAND:
You can find the word "peace" in many languages here. I used Ultra Fine Point Sharpie markers.

Of course you can make trees with any paper in any size and decorate them however you wish. Make a bunch and create a forest.
