Thoughtful Thursday-Gifts

My kids returned from a 7 week cross-country road trip bearing gifts from Pete Groat—a print and a painting by Jenny. Over the years I have always struggled with my ambivalence about the marketing and selling of artwork. In my heart, I know I don't care if I sell my work, but I have always felt it was somehow socially and financially wrong to feel that way. As I read these words by Kenyon Cox from 1895 so beautifully presented by Jenny, I am one more step on the road to being able to say with complete comfort, "I work for the work's sake."

And here is a recent painting called Siren Song which brings Jenny's energy and light into our home. Thank you Pete.

I'm looking forward to having it hanging in the studio. Have the place picked out and some glass and clips it will fit. A perfect task for our first day in a week without oppressive
humidity.
