Book Arts Tuesday-Bookmarks XIII

I love taking part in Bookmarks! Here's some information about the project from the website:

Welcome to Bookmarks XIII. This annual series aims to encourage appreciation of work in the format of the artist's book. Participating artists each produce an edition of 100 signed and numbered bookmarks to give away through distribution boxes at 10 venues around the world.
The Bookmarks projects series aims to encourage appreciation of work in the format of the artist's book. Participating artists each produce an edition of 100 signed and numbered bookmarks to give away through distribution boxes at venues around the world.
Over the last thirteen years, the Bookmarks series of free artwork distribution has visited 137 galleries, bookstores, workshops, centres, schools and libraries in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK and USA
This is my 2nd year participating. Here's what I wrote about mine:
I had Sumi ink left in a small dish after a writing project and a brush loaded with ink that I had been using to fill my pen. Wanting to use up the ink, I found some strips of watercolour paper left over from a bookmaking project. As I contemplated what to write, I went for the obvious - just the word ‘bookmark’. I wrote freely and tamped down my critical eye. Instead of making extra and choosing the best, I wrote bookmark on a hundred strips of paper and used every one. I pursued calligraphy with a great seriousness 30 years ago. I have come back to it with a more relaxed spirit and take great joy in the writing.

You can see all the bookmarks and learn about the artists here

If you would like to join in future Bookmarks projects as an artist or a host venue, please email Sarah for instructions at Sarah.Bodman@uwe.ac.uk.
