The bittersweet berries have opened. They are, by the way, extremely invasive. I dispose of them in tied plastic trash bags with household waste rather than with garden waste. The pretty sight of the orange berries (Celastrus orbiculatus) along the roadside is actually a view of an invasive species engaged in the slow strangulation of the trees they climb and encircle.
