Forty Years #8: Inspiration From the Past

I spent a lot of time looking at, and copying, pictures of old manuscript pages. This rendition of the Song of Solomon came from Leonardo Bruno Aretino's Epistolae, Florence 1470.
which was in Two Thousand Years of Calligraphy, as was Pietro Andrea di Bassi's La Fetiche de Hercule, Ferrara, ca. 1471.
The color on my version is faded, but I think they were lavenders and light blues. It was a gift for my parents. 
I didn't always do Italians. Here's something Celtic feel.
And then there was William Morris. I can't find what I used as a source but I suspect this was a pretty direct lift except for the little drawings that go with the poem.
