Poetry Month-Louder Than A Bomb Massachusetts

The finals of the Massachsetts Louder Than A Bomb Youth Poetry Slam Festival take place this Friday in Boston. Here's some information from the emailing that came my way from Mass Poetry:

The largest youth poetry slam in the country (Louder Than A Bomb) has made it to Massachusetts. On April 13th at The Villa Victoria Center for the Arts (85 Newton St, Boston) 7:00 - 10:00pm (doors open at 6:30), the four highest scoring teams will compete and celebrate poetry. Because the point is not the points, the point is the POETRY! This is a youth movement. A new culture for a new city. This weekend long friendly competition aiming to bring teens together across racial, gang and socio-economic lines, brought youth poets from all over the Bay State into one room, on one stage, in one cypher to share stories and build family. This festival is about more than winning. This festival is about getting the young people of our state into one room listening to each other. Tickets are available at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/237160

"Louder Than a Bomb has shown me a whole group of fantastic poets that are now like fam."
-Shaheem Durham, LTABMA youth poet from Codman Academy (Dorchester)

Louder Than A Bomb Finals will include a showcase by some of the incredible youth poets and group poems that didn't make it to finals stage. We will also have the incredible Poet/Recording Artist, 2nd place 2009 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion and a 2010 TED Global Fellow Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo to bless the mic and open up the stage for us. Don't miss this inaugural event! Get your ticket and come listen to what the young people of Massachusetts have to say.

The first ever Louder Than A Bomb Mass youth poetry slam will close the night out with Peabody High School, Worcester Youth Poetry Slam, Newburyport High School and Words for Deaf Ears (Somerville / Boston Unified) teams competing over 5 rounds of spectacular verse!
