Studio Sunday-Me, Myself, and I

I have spent a fair amount of time over the last month staring at my very large computer screen and looking at pictures of myself. Kevin Harkins of Harkins Photography came to the studio in July and took lots of pictures of me, both in the studio and outside. He is patient and encouraging and made me feel so at ease. It was a great morning and we had a chance to reminisce about Lowell in the 80s and catch up on our lives since.

Then came the hard part, choosing which photos to use of the many, many that he took. What a weird experience. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a career based on one's appearance. I don't think about what I look like that often, but I do have opinions about my face, mostly negative: eyes too small, teeth too big, lips too thin, but I have never given any thought to my nose. Scrolling through the photos and examining them for the best portrayal, I found myself looking at my nose. I came to no conclusion about it but was a bit unsettled by how much thought I gave it.

I have chosen two that I liked the best, one taken inside and one outside. Kevin kindly did some work to the photos in Photoshop, but they were such good pictures to start that I preferred them untouched, a tribute to his skill as a photographer. Thank you Kevin!

Visit Kevin's website and if you're in the Merrimack Valley and need a photo of yourself, get in touch with him.

Coming soon will be a second thank you post to Kevin who also spent time that day helping me with a new set-up for photographing my work.

Thanks Mo and Holli. And a thanks that should have been in the post—to my friend and hairdresser Trudy who made time to do my hair that morning. And my daughter who is my fashion consultant.
