Book Arts Tuesday-Morgan Conservatory

One of the highlights of my trip to Cleveland was a visit to the the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Education Foundation which is devoted to the art of hand papermaking and book arts. Located in a former machine shop, its industrial space has been converted into areas for papermaking,

letterpress printing,

bookbinding (set up for a Watermarks Conference workshop),

exhibitions (on display now a juried exhibition in conjunction with Watermarks 2012)

and a garden growing kozo for papermaking. The harvest will be in November.

Most impressive about the Morgan is feeling of the place. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk in the door. The dedication and enthusiasm of the staff and volunteers is contagious and they give credit for the spirit of the place to its founder Tom Balbo.
