Poetry Month-Pain
This image was scanned from a scratchy old slide. Despite its poor quality, it speaks to what so many are feeling after Monday's events in Boston. It has lines from Sappho:
Pain penetrates me drop by drop
and Emily Dickinson:
Pain has an element of blank;
It cannot recollect
When it began, or if there was
A time when it was not.
It has no future but itself,
Its infinite realms contain
Its past, enlightened to perceive
New periods of pain.
